FRESH NEW ART WINDOWS, YAY!

So our good pal Stasea is thinking up lots of new and exciting displays for our lovely windows. This months window will feature her oh-so-super-cute micro car, the BMW Isetta. Along with her Isetta is a general eco-travel theme including gorgeous vintage Samsonite luggage in a black and white Merrimeko print and a couple of smartly dressed mannequins. In addition Stasea hand painted the Merrimeko print onto the windows to create a killer bold look that is completely eye catching. We’re inspired by these widows to adopt a new concept for our domestically made products, “Fashion Miles”. This is similar to Food Miles which lets you know how far your food has travelled to get to you. The same level of consciousness should apply to clothing as well, donchathink? Stuck in the UK!

OK, so I’m NOT stuck in the UK anymore. At long last my husband and I were able to catch one of the first flights out and make it back to California after 27 hours of travel. Not the most fun situation to find yourself in when you are 32+ weeks pregnant! Silly Iceland volcano. . .  Anyhow, I am now back at the shop and SO thrilled to be here. While I was away the store managed to somehow get MORE beautiful! The Spring/Summer merchandise is amazing. I already have set aside all sorts if goodies that I plan on wearing in just 2 short months. However, unlike me, you don’t have to wait! BEST OF SONOMA COUNTY!

Thanks to all your support, we’ve done it again! For the 3rd year in a row (every year we’ve been in business) we have been awarded “Best Clothing Store” in Sonoma County. This really does come as such an honor to be listed among the ranks of all the greats in our region. Of course, we could not have done any of it with out our amazing supporters and fans, so a BIG THANKS goes to all of you out there who just might be reading this post.

IT’S A KATE UPDATE!

This is Kate. This is Kate writing a blog update.

Yes folks, I apologize for the radio silence but I can assure you there was good reason for the long pause. Or should I say pregnant pause? Yes, I did indeed have a child. Ulysses Holmes Morison was born in March. A scant six months later I am resurfacing. Feast your eyes on a visual aide of our new boy!

Love being a mom, and little Uly makes it easy on me. Yes he is a lovely little fellow, and ever so agreeable. Feel more than fortunate.

Fortunately I am starting to fit in to clothes again, just in time for fall fashion. We have a whole new crop of ethical apparel to harvest this fall. Stay tuned, the next cute pics will not be of my son, but of all our great fall stuff, available for purchase.

NEW FALL ‘09 FAVS!

OK people, Fall is happening inside the doors of ARBORETUM. We have received tons of new orders and are super excited about each and every collection. One in particular that we are really happy with so far is Lily + Jae! WE LOVE IT and so do our customers. We have sold out and re-ordered twice already off our first order alone. Our second order is due to arrive any day and personally I am on pins and needles! Our recent thunder storm has brought some much welcomed showers and cooler weather which has helped put me in the mood for jackets and cozy scarves, of which we have really cute ones! Lily + Jae of course has created the *perfect* little blazer in black or gray wool and the new colorful merino wool scarves from Virginia Johnson have the most to dire for prints ever. What am I anticipating the most? SWEDISH HASBEENS boots!! We have a huge waiting list going so when they land in store they will already be sold out, YIKES! Hope there is a pair left for me. . .
